One handy tip for seeing Paris is to take advantage of the RER E train – just 15 minutes walk from the hotel. This line is quick, new, and whisks you straight to two main central Paris stations in just 15-20 minutes: Magenta (which links to Gare du Nord) and Haussmann–Saint-Lazare. From Saint-Lazare, you’re right near the big department stores (Printemps, Galeries Lafayette) and the Opéra Garnier, and easy metro access to all other parts of the city. Much quicker and less hair-raising compared to driving into Paris.
You can save quite a bit on dining with the huge food court and many restaurants in the adjacent Rosny 2 shopping center. There are quite a few options that are much kinder on the pocket than those at the tourist’s heart of Paris. And here’s a great hack: pop in to the huge Carrefour hypermarket in the shopping mall, and buy some really good French bread, cheese, and wine for a yummy and ultra budget-priced ‘picnic dinner’ back in your hotel room.
For families, the real purpose of coming to this hotel is its strategic location between central Paris and Disneyland Paris. You can drive to Disneyland in approximately 30 minutes by the A4 motorway. Or take the RER E from Rosny-Bois-Perrier one stop to Val de Fontenay, then switch to the RER A that goes to Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy, right at the entrance to the Disney parks. This makes the hotel a very smart ‘n’ cheap chick spot base for your Disney trip.
And should you have a car, then you can take advantage of where the hotel is to explore more within the city. A great day trip is a visit to the magnificent Château de Vincennes, a massive and very well preserved medieval royal castle, which is only a fifteen-minute drive. Much less crowded than Versailles, it also presents an interesting look at the history of France. The lovely Bois de Vincennes park lies beside it, and one may walk there in one’s leisure time.
